The Putnam County Department of Health is issuing an alert to residents after a feral cat, found in the Peekskill Hollow Road and Tinker Hill Road section of Putnam Valley, tested positive for rabies. The department asks any residents who may have come into contact with this cat (photo attached) to call their office at 845-808-1390 to determine if post-exposure treatment is necessary.
