As many know the Putnam Valley Elementary school is surrounded by acres of woodland. There are many hunters both those that reside here and those that allow out-of-towners to hunt or target practice on their land, both scenarios are legal and acceptable. There is also a safe distance between the school and the woods, and there is no danger to the children or staff, however, on occasion outdoor recess has been canceled due to the echo of the gunshots.
